Pull up to Elks Lodge #1558 on Elk Drive and you get a handshake before you get a menu. That's the standard here, and it's been that way for generations. Secretary Kent and the crew make it a point to greet every visitor at the door, walk them through the space, and make sure they feel like they belong, whether they're a lifelong Elk or a road-tripper rolling in with an RV.

The lodge sits at a 4.6-star rating across more than 118 reviews, and that number is earned the old-fashioned way: a well-stocked bar, a lively game room, and events like Ladies Steak Night that people talk about long after the plates are cleared. Guests consistently call the food fantastic, and the atmosphere has the kind of low-key, no-pretense energy that makes Carlsbad locals proud to call it their own.

Situated in Carlsbad, NM, the lodge also welcomes traveling members with 30-amp RV hookups, a rare perk that turns a quick stop into a genuine overnight stay. This is a place built around the idea that community isn't a slogan. It's a Tuesday night at the bar, a tour from a guy who genuinely loves showing people around, and a steak cooked exactly right.

What We Offer

The lodge runs a full-service bar and lounge where members and their guests can unwind after a long day, catch a game, or strike up a conversation with someone new. It's the kind of bar where the bartender knows the regulars and the regulars know each other.

Special events are a cornerstone of the #1558 experience. Ladies Steak Night draws a crowd for a reason: the food is serious, the atmosphere is relaxed, and the price is right. The game room keeps things lively between events, offering a casual space to shoot pool or just hang out without any pressure.

For traveling Elks and RV enthusiasts, the lodge offers 30-amp electrical hookups, making it a practical and welcoming overnight stop on a road trip through southeastern New Mexico. Membership in the Benevolent and Protective Order of Elks also opens the door to a national network of lodges, charitable programs, and community events that extend well beyond Carlsbad.

"We were greeted immediately by the lodge secretary Kent. He showed us to the bar for a drink and then gave a short tour. We took avail of their 30 amp plug in for our RV. Enjoyed the game room and Kent found us before leaving to say how much he appreciated us stopping by. If you have never had the opportunity to visit this lodge, put it on your bucket list. It blew us away!"

"Genuinely the worst place in town! I wouldn’t even give it a single star if I could. The food was bad, the chairs and tables are probably older than me. The toilets wouldn’t even flush despite the fact they say they just redid all the plumbing. The only thing that wasn’t bad was the drinks. I will NEVER be returning to this or any other elks club."

The Elks gave America
Flag Day.

Long before it was a national observance, the Order set aside June 14th to honor the flag. Patriotism has always been one of our cardinal principles, and every lodge meeting still closes the same way it has for over a century.
